Forest Home

Went to our cabin in Forest Home to clear wood out from under the cabin. Roger, Sharon, Brian and Eric have been spending many days over the last month to prepare the cabin for a new roof. The more they work the longer their To-Do list gets. Thanks to the Kelly and her boys, Daniel and Andrew who came up on one days notice to lend a hand. They were a huge help! After we were done Kelly, the boys and I went to the creek to check out all the water. Lots of it!

We're Taking the Fast Lane to State

The 12 best 3200m runners in the CIF Southern Section came together Friday night to race to the 8 lap finish. Lane being one of them ran 9:05 for a 4th place finish and one of the top 5 who are promised an entry in the California State Track & Field Championships. The cool thing is that any one who ran faster than 9:10:47 could go regardless of finishing place. So, 9 of the 12 did just that and will go to the State Meet. Lane was happy about this as he has developed a bond with many of these guys he's been racing against since September.

Again, Lane had many friends and family there cheering him on. We are thankful for all of them making their way to Cerritos on a very difficult night of traffic on the highways.

Just a note for the out-of-staters: Southern Section includes over 570 high schools in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, and Los Angeles counties (except the city of Los Angeles which has it's own section).

Julius Cesaer Was Here

Today was Biography Day at Mark's school. Each student came dressed as a famous historical person of the world. As you can see, Mark was Julius Cesaer. He then gave a presentation about "himself". He was very believable!

Playoff Success for the Rangers

Mark's Ranger's won their first playoff game against the Angels Wednesday night. He played 3rd base making a great play to get a runner out at first. Along with that he contributed at the bat with a triple down the 3rd base line. Final score 11-0. Uncle Tom made the trek from San Diego to watch the game. Very cool! Mark will play again next Tuesday night for the American League title.

Master Lane is Going to the Masters!

It GREAT race, yes it was! Lane ran a 9:04.96 3200m to place 2nd in CIF SS Division 1. (That bested his PR by over 10 seconds.) The top 12 of all divisions move on to the Masters Meet next Friday. That meet will determine which of these 12 move on to the State Meet on June 5th. Lane had quite a fan base of family and friends there to cheer him on.

Mark and the Rangers Do It Again!

Mark's went 2 for 2 and a walk in the Rangers win over the Athletics. They will finish the season on Wednesday and go into next weeks playoffs as the #1 seed. Mark played 2nd base and made 2 solid plays. One of them got them out of the inning leaving 2 on base. Way to go Mark! :)

While this was going on the Lakers were dominating the Suns. Go Lakers! Also, while this was going on, Lane's Red Sox were struggling against the Yankees. Papelbon had a very bad night in New York....Lane is sad. :(

Lane Moves On!

Lane qualified for the CIF Finals next Saturday by winning his heat of the 3200 meter race at the Division 1 CIF SS Prelims at Trabuco Hill High School late this afternoon. Overall, Lane placed 3rd out of 40 runners with the top 9 advancing to the Finals at Cerritos College next Saturday. His time was 9:17.

Caitlin's Confirmation

We had a wonderful time seeing our friends the Phelan's today. Sue's goddaughter, Caitlin, was confirmed in her church and we were able to share in some of her celebration. She is a sophomore in high school and cheerleader. She is a beautiful girl both inside and out. So are her brother Patrick and sister Meagan. Ok, Patrick's not beautiful, but handsome, and a very cool dude!

Mother's Day

After church, we went to Orange and visited Grammy for Mother's Day, Grandpa and Uncle Charlie too. They fed us BIG....bratwurst, German potato salad, jello, and salad, then yummy dessert. We just about rolled out of their house it was so good. Had a very fun time and it was nice to see Grammy doing well after her cataract surgery last Monday! (Picture was from Lane and Raelyn's State XC race :~)

You ROCK Grammy!

Big VIII League Finals

Only Lane's second competitive 3200 race this season, he won by about 80 meters! He was happy with his time considering he didn't have anyone pushing his pace.

Raelyn ran the 1600 and the 3200 in league finals Thursday. She placed 7th out of 9 and was very happy about her race. Out of 24 girls, Raelyn placed 8th in the 3200.

Lane Goes to Prom!

Saturday night was Lane's high school prom. He took a wonderful girl, Brianna, who he has known for quite a few years. With, Brianna's dad, Mike, driving their RV and Ralph riding "shotgun", they drove 13 prom-goers to Chili's for dinner then to the Hyatt Hotel near Disneyland. Brianna is quite the dancer so she and Lane danced from the first to the last song. Sounds like they had a great time.

Emma's Baptism

We can't go without posting a belated HURRAH!! for Emma Jensen. She was baptized into God's precious family in Thousand Oaks on April 18th.

We also got to spend the day with many of our CLU friends that attended the baptism, and went to the CLU Scandenavian Day. We carpooled with Paul and Maureen Martin which gave us a little more time for catching up. What a great day!
Thanks to Cherie for sharing their picture of this special day. It's hard to believe the CLU guys met when they were just a couple years older than Lane. So young...sooooo many years ago. =)

Lane's Runnin' to Catch-Up!

Being injured for the whole month of February, Lane has had his work cut out for him. He has certainly been working hard to make up for lost workouts. Because of this, he has not competed much this season. However, lookout because this post season, he's looking to make up for lack of racing. He will be competing on Thursday at the Big VIII League Finals in the 3200 (no prelims for this race).

Raelyn's a Runnin'

Raelyn has been running well in her first track season. She runs at the varsity level in both the 1600 and the 3200. (For those older folks viewing that's comparable to the mile and the 2 mile.)
She is getting ready for the Big VIII League Prelims this Tuesday. She will run the 1600.

Basketball Wrap-Up

Mark finished playing basketball for the season. The team didn't have a winning record but the kids had a great time and learned a lot about the game.
